On Wednesday, April 29th, several local AIA members will be involved in an exciting symposium:

*Food|Art|Architecture: New Research on the Ancient Roman Symposium*

which will take place at the Italian Embassy beginning at 6:30 PM.

The event will feature a set of informative and richly illustrated presentations followed by a discussion with experts on ancient Roman art, architecture and philosophy on topics such as the ways ancient Romans dined, how they enjoyed their food, and how they stored and prepared meals from the kitchen to the richly decorated triclinium.

The speakers include several members of our own local society, including organizing board members Alex Nagel of the Smithsonian Institution and Maryl Gensheimer of the Dept. of Art History and Archaeology of the University of Maryland  as well as Lindley Vann of the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation of the University of Maryland.

Please visit the following link to reserve a place in the audience, and you can download the PDF below for a program of the event.
