VALERIE FRENCH

The Washington D.C. Society honors the memory of Valerie French each year with this fundraising event. Based at American University, Professor French taught ancient history, published on children, childbirth, and parenting in the ancient Mediterranean, and was a long-time member of our D.C. Society, for which she served as both president and treasurer. Her legacy lives on through this annual fundraiser, the proceeds of which support Society functions and travel fellowships for local DMV students.

LUNCHEON AND LECTURE

Click below to RSVP for the Valerie French Memorial Luncheon and Lecture. You will be prompted to select "Luncheon and Lecture" ($50 / person) or "Lecture-Only" (free).

Though the lecture is free and open to the public, we ask that you reserve a seat even if you will not attend the luncheon.

International
Archaeology Day

International Archaeology Day (IAD) is a celebration of archaeology by the AIA and other archaeological organizations across the United States, Canada, and abroad. While the Memorial lecture honors Professor French, the date of this event also celebrates IAD.
